Nature Based Early Childhood Educational Program at GISNY
German International School New York (GISNY) is excited to introduce its new Nature Based Early Childhood Educational Program (NBECE) for students in Pre-K and Kindergarten starting this September.
This program will allow our students, ages 3 to 6, to spend the bulk of their school day in the outdoor setting. Our goal is to actively reconnect children with the natural world, as well as each other. This time outdoors will provide the opportunity for our children to explore and learn with nature and be inspired by their surroundings. Our nature-based early childhood program is rooted in hands-on learning, which supports the development of children’s cognitive growth, in addition to positioning them for long-term academic success.
When the outdoors is your classroom, it opens a world of possibilities. These daily, prolonged experiences in and with nature serve to provide the time and space to support the holistic development of each child. Children are enthusiastic about being outdoors, and this enthusiasm transfers to a greater level of emotional investment in learning. The outdoor space also allows for increased gross motor opportunities, as children are able to utilize their whole body as well as all of their senses to explore.
GISNY is located on 20 acres of beautiful and private grounds in White Plains, NY.
