German Pre-schools & Daycares German-American School Manhattan – International Pre- & Lower School

GSM (German-American School Manhattan) is the only German-English dual immersion Elementary school in the borough. The newly established Preschool is open to students who don’t have prior exposure to the German language. Located in the heart of Tribeca on Warren Street, GSM admits children starting at 3 years of age. Attending GSM Preschool is the ideal preparation for the continuing K-5 program. GSM is currently an IB PYP Candidate School.

GSM uses small classes to make a big impact. Expertly trained educators teach in their native language, while the intimate group settings allow for dedicated student-teacher interaction.

GSM’s inquiry-based preschool curriculum is stimulating for curious learners and promotes a culture of empathy and understanding. Music and dance are an integral part of the weekly schedule and daily outdoor time allows for playtime and explorations in nature.

GSM’s transdisciplinary K-5 curriculum has re-imagined bilingual education for NYC. Our school’s unique proposition is that the German educational model is blended with the NY State academic standards and by that goes beyond the expectations of either: The IB model of inquiry adds depth and agency to our students’ learning
